UNFINISHED, A KANSAS CITY COMMUNITY PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT
Do you want to leave a mark in this world? What have you yet to create? The time has come to set your intention.
Unfinished is a portrait project for anyone in Kansas City who is ready to take a step toward growth. It’s about declaring your intentions, embracing the process, and holding yourself accountable—not to perfection, but to beginning.
Too often, the fear of failure keeps us from starting the work we feel called to do. Unfinished invites you to say it out loud: I am just getting started.
This project is for dreamers, doers, and those willing to step outside of their comfort zone. By participating, you’ll join a community of people choosing courage over hesitation and growth over stagnation. Each participant will be photographed in a portrait that captures this bold moment of intention.
Each portrait will be photographed and then digitally reimagined by Kansas City photographer and artist, Emmalee Rathsam. Your image will be transformed into a work of art inspired by the many unfinished masterpieces of the greats—like Picasso, Jacques-Louis David and Leonardo da Vinci whose incomplete paintings remind us that beauty and meaning are not reserved for what is “finished.” Instead, these pieces honor the courage to create, even in process. Your portrait will become both a record of your intention and a symbolic echo of art history’s reminders that beginnings matter as much as completions.
All portraits will be unveiled in a public exhibition.
